Is this the best cheap pistol you can get???

Sig Sauer 225 9mm $259.00

Looks like they are surplus guns from some eastern european countries police force, looks pretty sexy imho, 8 round clip is kind of small but it seems its small size more than makes up for it, a good concealable gun when SHTF. Might pick this up for my next gun, comes with 2 clips and holster.

Russian 1895 7.62 Nagant Revolver $79.00

Anyone have one of these? How are they? Extremely cheap. I've never even heard of this pistol ammo before so I'm guessing its hard to find.

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/nagant.jpg

They also have a mosin nagant rifle for $69.00 :confused_ma:

I'm under the impression these are good rifles (correct me if I'm wrong) maybe I should pick one up. Seems hard to beat with how cheap it is.

The P225 is a steal.

As far as brand new pistols, the best value is a CZ75B for about $400. Nothing else comes close.

The M1895 pistol is a POS. The double action trigger pull is body-builder heavy. The single action trigger pull is still maybe 8 pounds or so. Ammunition is not readily available due to the unique deisgn of the catridge. If you look at a loaded catridge, you'll think it's just a casing as the bullet is seated entirely inside with nothing sticking out. I've heard you can shoot some modern loads through it but I never have. As far as pistols goes, this is a toy. Something to play with once or twice and then put up. Do not buy it if you're looking for a firearm to use.

Funny you should say that. There was an old guy next to ne at the counter. He might have been at WWII veteran, He kept calling the Ruger a "Luger". :confused_ma:

CZ 52

The CZ 52 is an excellent pistol. Awesome penetration with the 7.62x25, which you can buy cheap. Looks like they're out at J&G Sales. I think they're usually around $80, but I don't remember for sure, just that they were cheap.

cz 52 is great piece for SHTF storage, solid as hell with the roller locking mechanism akin to the HK rifles; cheap ammo can be had, and if you can find some czech loaded milsurp then you are talkin HOT. not sellior and belliot stuff, the other stuff. may be hard to find now I dont know.

those 250 bucker sigs look cool.

the moisin nagan clunker of a revolver is underpowerd. skip it. but it might be good for a homebrewed suppressor project, considering that it is the only revolver I know of which makes a gas seal. otherwise suppressors dont work well on revolvers which usually let gas escape loudly from the cylinder.

Nobody is mentioning that awesome beater of a PPK clone the Pistolyet Makarova? I got my Russ one for $150. Great piece and I carry it as much as any other.

That Sigs a pretty good deal. And as others have stated, I would steer clear of the m1895.

If you can find one, the Tokarev is a knock off of the Browning action. Its ugly but its a shooter. Mine is chambered for the 9mm para.

I like that tokarev chink 213 but would have prefered a russ one. looked for years and the only ones at shows were overpriced.

heard that they dont have a trigger block safety and can AD if dropped.

sure thats a fine brand but its not the hot stuff they loaded for this sidearm.

I think that hirtenberger also loaded hot 762 x 25 for german subguns. that is a good pairing for this item as well. it will have a warning not to use in pistols on it. and I would heed that except that I am told that the cz 52 can hold up to some very high pressures so it shouldnt be a problem with one of those.

Awesome choice. Although, they seem to sell for closer to $500, at least here in Kalifornia (and, you get the lovely 10-round magazines instead of the 16-rounders that everyone else gets).

They seem to run a little more nowadays, more like $300+ for one in good shape. Outstanding guns.

The Sig you are contemplating purchasing seems like a good deal. I agree with the suggestions of others. Makarovs and CZ52s are quite a bargain. My Makarov is really fun to shoot.
Take care,

Dude... thats like saying a Flint musket is a POS. You are comparing 1895 technology with 21st century technology, what do you expect? :no_ma:

Nothing wrong with the gun. I have one for collection purposes and you can shoot 7.62nagant, 32 s&w long and 32 H&R magnum thru it. If thats all you can afford, than so be it. My only real complaint is reloading time. swing gates SUCK.

FWIW The FEG PA-63 chambered in 9x18 makarov can be had for $99, with shipping and xfer 150 delivered. Thats the best value out there right now. The CZ-82 coming in a close second.

P225/6 is a great gun also and if it was c&r (it should be) I'd have one too. The CZ70 just became a c&r gun.. I'm tempted to grab one, especially with the cheap s&b .32acp flooding the market righ tnow.

Re: Is this the best cheap pistol you can get???

The P6 (SIG 225) is a fine pistol. A single stack mag also helps with a CCW handgun. Right now the main "hit" on this gun is spare mags seem to have dried up and people are paying crazy money for them. I notice you can get the higher grade model at Dan's and get a spare mag. Sounds like the way to go to me. And Dan's has the P1 for sale as well in amazing condition. If you always liked the looks and history of the Walther P-38, they are hard to beat!

http://www.dansammo.com/firearms.asp

Of course AIM has the P6 as well.

http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/S..._Handguns.html

I just bought another H&K P7 from Steve at SCP Firearms for $539 shipped! Amazing.
